Welcome to another instalment in our 12 days of Christmas series.
Each day over the festive period we've been featuring a different local good cause.
Today it's the turn of Powerjam Band Project in Twickenham.
Here is a bit about them:
"Powerjam Band Project helps young musicians aged 11-19 to form/develop bands, rehearse weekly, songwrite, & gig! Run by volunteer music industry pros and gigging musicians.
"Powerjam is a not-for-profit band project that offers musical young people the opportunity to join, form, and develop bands, play, create, and record music that excites them.
"With weekly rehearsals led by DBS checked music industry professionals and gigging musicians, each band learn to play songs to performance level and gig at community events (Richmond Riverside Music Festival, Strawberry Hill Music Day, Try Twickenham Events, etc.) - so they also learn the value of becoming reliable team players.
"Powerjam aims to place member in appropriate bands in terms of level, age, style, and taste in music, and to give each individual attention and instruction.
"All levels and instruments are considered (many are provided). The project is able to deliver a quality service through a combination of volunteer work, donations, parental contributions, and in-kind support from Achieving for Children.
"Our mission is to help local young people of all backgrounds form/ develop bands, improve musically, songwriter, gig, & gain confidence.
"The bands learn about the industry & how to be pros, the value of teamwork, and have a great time rehearsing and performing throughout the community. Music heals, and transcends cultural, social, economic boundaries!"
