Teddington locals invited to submit drawings for Arts Richmond's Diana Armfield Prize

Arts Richmond's Diana Armfield Prize is back this year and is now taking submissions.

The deadline for submissions is 15 February 20225.

The prize is awarded in memory of Armfield's husband, Bernard Dunstsan RA.

Diana Armfield RA NEAC studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and Central School of Arts and Crafts.

She was Artist in Residence in Perth, Australia in 1985, and in Jackson, Wyoming, USA in 1989.

She was elected to the RA the same year.

She started her career in textile and wallpaper design in partnership with Roy Passano.

Armfield and Passano contributed to the 1951 Festival of Britain and examples of their work are in the permanent collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Armfield has lived in Kew for many years.

She and her husband Bernard both had their studios in their family home.

Armfield, still an active artist reached a grand old age of 104 years in 2024.

All professionals, amateurs and even those who say "I can't draw a line" are welcome to submit their drawings.
