A great start for learning business in Kingston

By Nub News Reporter 13th Jul 2023

The man behind an innovative education service for the benefit of Kingston children has spoken of his delight at the warm welcome received in the first few months of operation of the centre.

David Impey is the Director of the Kip McGrath Kingston Upon Thames Education Centre, which opened its doors on Fife Road in April, welcoming students and parents for in-centre and online free assessments, and lessons.

Reflecting on the start, Mr Impey said: "As the term comes to an end I would like to express my thanks for the trust shown by current parents and children."

"We look forward to welcoming new students and parents, and wish all a wonderful summer and academic year to come!"

However, it's not farewell to everyone, as Summer School sessions are available by arrangement, including during mornings.

Parents are able to view Kingston's Kip McGrath website here for further information on how their child could benefit from additional one-on-one support.

The centre provides individual learning programmes for children aged six to 16 who are struggling to achieve their potential with their Maths and English.

The first few months have fulfilled all the expectations of David, who said: "It is an absolute delight teaching students who are very capable and can pick up things quickly, but the real test is when someone is having difficulties and just not 'getting it'. There is no bigger thrill than when it just 'clicks', and they understand the skill or concept."

"Kingston's Kip McGrath is a place where we want to welcome any young student who is struggling in certain areas, or aiming to accelerate progress, and make it clear to them that together, learning can be fun and success is there for all, with the right support and teaching."
