AN ESTATE agents are moving in to a former clothes shop on Teddington high street.

Global firm Savills will be opening an office in the town where the former branch of high street clothing branch Jigsaw used to be.

New signs have been put up in the building's window at No.28 High Street advertising Savills' arrival - which will take the number of estate agents up to eight in Teddington town centre.

Jigsaw recently closed its Teddington branch following a dramatic shift to online shopping brought about by the pandemic.

Covid-19 and lockdowns also saw the clothing company lose over £30 million in revenue from closed stores.

In contrast, house prices rose by 11% in 2021 as the government temporarily cut stamp duty and thousands flocked to new homes further away from city centres.

Savills, which has branches in Barnes and Richmond, has been expanding globally over the last few years - including setting up its Indian offices n 2019.

Teddington recently rose to attention among prospective home-buyers due to being named as the best place to live in London, thanks to its royal parks, riverside location and thriving high street.
