Horrible Histories Live On Stage is returning to Hampton Court Palace this half term!

Horrible Histories: The Terrible Tudors will bring the magic of the CBBC show and Terry Deary books to life right on Teddington's doorstep.

The family-friendly show will be performed at 12pm and 3pm every day from Saturday 29 May to Friday 5 June, in the palace's East Gardens.

Actors dressed up as historical figures will tell the story of the Tudors, from the horrible Henries to 'evil' Elizabeth, all while being in the grounds where some of them used to live!

Children will discover the fate of Henry's headless wives, learn about his 'punch up' with the Pope, and be tested on whether they have what it takes to survive the Spanish Armada.

"Perfect for those with a thirst for all things awful and amusing," the description reads.

"Horrible Histories Live on Stage – presented by The Birmingham Stage Company - promises history with all of the nasty bits left in!"

All performances will be socially distanced, with households and bubbles seated on the grass in their own clearly marked and socially distanced seating square.

Visitors can also have a look around the palace between show and check out its spectacular formal gardens, before walking in the footsteps of Tudor history's most infamous characters in the spectacular Great Hall, recently reopened to visitors alongside the palace's State Apartments and historic kitchens.

Little ones can also enjoy the fun-filled Magic Garden, an adventure playground built on the site of Henry VIII's former jousting arena.

To provide peace of mind, a host of safety measures such as one-way routes, hand sanitiser dispensers and social distancing signage will be in place throughout the palace and gardens to ensure returning visitors feel safe.

Visitors are also asked to book in advance to help Historic Royal Palaces manage capacity and allow everyone to enjoy their time at the palace with plenty of space.
