There is some good news for people looking to get a Covid-19 test in Teddington and across Richmond Borough.

The drive-in test centre at Twickenham Stadium will now remain open beyond the end of this month.

Originally the borough's only permanent drive-in test centre was due to close as fans were scheduled to return to the rugby in October.

These plans have now been paused by the government due to the rise in coronavirus cases across the country.

This means that the test centre at the stadium will now remain in place.

Twickenham and Teddington MP Munira Wilson tweeted:

"Pleased to hear that the #Twickenham Covid testing centre at @RFUHomeTurf will remain open, given spectators will not now be returning next month. But it's not much use if residents can't access tests when they need them! @DHSCgovuk really needs to get a grip #testingshambles"

This news will come as a relief to residents who were already struggling to get a test.

Our other nearest test centres would have been Chessington or Heathrow.

Remember to only get a test if you show symptoms of coronavirus.
