Temporary School Caretaker - Contracted to 02/12/2025

An immediate and critical opening has arisen for a Temporary Caretaker to support a welcoming primary school in New Malden.

Due to the urgent short-term absence of the Premises Manager, the school requires a reliable, hands-on individual to ensure the safe and functional operation of the school buildings and grounds. This is a critical role to maintain a positive and tidy learning environment for all pupils and staff.

This is an immediate start position with an expected duration until early December 2025.

• Performing light maintenance and odd jobs around the school, including fixing lightbulbs, minor window repairs, and general classroom maintenance.

• Assisting with setting out and packing away tables and chairs for lunchtime.

• Ensuring the playground and exterior areas are clean and tidy.

• Carrying out daily security checks, locking/unlocking procedures, and responding to basic site issues.

• Supporting the school leadership team with ad-hoc site requirements.

• A valid Enhanced DBS check is mandatory. Given the urgency, applicants must ideally have this on the Update Service or be able to provide a certificate dated within the last three months.

• Proven experience in a caretaking, facilities, or maintenance role, ideally within a school or public building setting.

• Practical skills in performing minor repairs and general DIY tasks.

• A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to manage time effectively.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
