Toads rescued from fire in Bushy Park

Two toads were rescued from a fire in Bushy Park this afternoon.

The amphibians were saved by from wood that was "smouldering" due to a log fire caused by a cigarette end.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade put the fire out.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters were called to a log alight in Bushy Park in Hampton Hill this afternoon (Thursday).

"The Brigade was called at 13:13 and the fire was under control by 13:58.

"One fire engine from Twickenham Fire Station was at the scene."

On Twitter the Royal Parks said: "Thanks to

@LondonFire for putting out a log fire in #BushyPark caused by a cigarette end.

"Two toads were rescued from the smouldering wood."
