Households across Teddington will not receive garden waste collections this week because too many of the Council's bin collectors are self-isolating.

Richmond Council has cancelled garden waste collections across the borough as it does not have the staff to collect both garden waste and other types of rubbish.

In a statement posted today (22 June) the Council said: "There will be no garden waste collections this week.

"This is due to a number of the collection crews having to self-isolate, we do not have enough staff to continue all collections streams.

"Logistically we have had to make the decision to prioritise household waste/food collections followed by blue and black box recycling collections.

"Any missed collections from Tuesday 20 to Friday 23 July will not be collected until the next scheduled collection.

"We aim to recover missed collections from Monday 19 July on Saturday 24 July 2021."

This follows news that the number of residents in Richmond upon Thames who have been 'pinged' and told to isolate by the NHS app has more than doubled in the last 2 weeks.

Covid absences also caused the Council to miss bin collections on 93 roads in Richmond earlier this week.
