England were scheduled to face The Barbarians this past weekend in a hotly-tipped Twickenham tussle.

However due to a breach of The Barbarians COVID bubble the game had to be called off.

Former Harlequins captain Chris Robshaw as set to play for the away side in what would have been his final game at Twickenham.

However he and a number of teammates were caught drinking in central London - breaching their bubble rules.

Videos have also emerged of the players drinking Tat he Running Horse Pub in Mayfair.

The players also went out to an Italian restaurant - further breaking the rules.

Robshaw released this statement: ""I want to express my deepest apologies for breaching the Barbarians' Covid-19 restrictions by leaving the hotel post training with some of my team-mates.

"A huge effort went into conducting this match in a safe fashion and it was irresponsible of me to break the protocols which are put in place to protect players, staff and the public.

"I understand that my actions have ultimately contributed to the cancellation of Sunday's match and I am sincerely remorseful for my role in undoing all the amazing work that went into trying to make it happen.

"I promise that I will learn from this mistake and ensure something like this never happens again."

It now seems unlikely that Robshaw will ever play at Twickenham again.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU), which has lost £1million as a result of the cancelled game, has now launched an investigation.
