A unique opportunity to own an iconic bright red telephone box and turn it into a business is now available as the famous landmark kiosk outside the gates of Hampton Court Palace is on the market.

Today, the freshly painted red kiosk (so fresh, you can still smell the paint) is showing new signs FOR SALE or TO LET with the daily rates and contacts telephone numbers ( although you cannot call from the kiosk) and a contact email address.

Cyclist, dog walkers and passers-by stopped in their tracks to learn more about the kiosk.

The owners, RKC Estates, the Brighton-based Red Kiosk Company has been inundated with over 50 enquiries since the phone box went on the market.

Standing in a very strategic position outside the gates of Hampton Court the kiosk could be deployed as a coffee outlet, a pop up souvenir shop, a florist's or even a pop up ticket kiosk for the many events which take place at the Palace such as the flower festival and the summer music events.

Other ideas include a pop up hat shop, a phone-charging booth or as accommodation for a defibrillator.

According to the operators the kiosk could be bought outright for £9000 and then the owners can put it to a commercial use and install electricity if required or it ca be rented on a short term basis event for a day.

"These iconic red phone boxes are both a great piece of engineering and architecture" commented Eddie Ottewell, who co-founded the company in 2014.

"Our aim is to redefine the usage to suit modern day needs and requirements without compromising their external appearance"

RKC Estates began its journey in 2012. Eddie and Steve presented BT the commercial opportunity of developing red phone boxes into retail / advertising / commercial units starting in their home city of Brighton.

"Once we had their (BT) support the project was underway" commented Eddie.

"It has been a journey of many twists, turns and obstacles as this had not been done before. We are extremely proud of the project and thank BT and Brighton Council for their support from the outset.

"At the core of RKC's strategy is the desire to make a quantifiable and positive impact upon the local community which it serves.

"The iconic Red telephone box is both a great piece of engineering and architecture, which are now mostly sitting redundant of any use.

"Our aim is to redefine their usage to suit modern day needs and requirements without compromising their external appearance.

"We design and create self contained 'retail pods' and located within the carcass of the unused iconic phone boxes."
