Simple Handmade Notebooks Workshop
United Response, Field Lane, Teddington TW11 9BP
UNTIL Saturday 5th February
Join experienced tutor Gill Smith for a fun afternoon of paper crafting and learn how to make a selection of small notebooks using a combination of folding, sticking and sewing. None of the techniques are too complicated and this workshop is definitely suited to the absolute beginner!
During the class, participants will be shown four different techniques to create a beautiful set of original notebooks.
You'll learn how to fold & manipulate paper for bookmaking using specialist bookmaking tools, make a simple folded notebook without any sticking or sewing, a 16 page pamphlet with laminated covers, a 16 page notebook with a pocket and a 16 page stab bound notebook.
We'll provide all the materials and tools for you to use during the workshop, though if you do have your own small scissors or scalpel, metal ruler and cutting mat, you might like to bring them along to use.
We'll also give you lots of tea, coffee and homemade cake.
If you're then bitten by the wonderful bookbinding bug, we've plenty of other classes for you to progress on to.
Gill Smith is a local artist, printmaker, paper cutter and bookmaker. She has an MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts, UAL.
