Sew a Tote Bag
United Response, Field Lane, Teddington TW11 9BP
UNTIL Sunday 6th February
Gain confidence with how to use your sewing machine in our inspiring three hour workshop taught by experienced teacher Cornelia Costenau.
During the class, you'll be given a short refresher into the basics – how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and sew in straight lines, before you move on to cutting out your fabric and sewing together your own fully lined tote bag, complete with pockets both outside and inside.
All materials and use of sewing machines are included, as are tea, coffee and homemade cake, and you'll leave with your finished tote bag to impress friends and family with!
If you do have your own sewing machine, we'd recommend bringing it along, as then you can familiarise yourself with the machine you'll be using at home for new projects.
Feel free to bring your own fabric, too – you just need a thicker fabric for the outside and thinner inside.
The class is suitable for both those with no experience of sewing and also people who've done a little before.
Cornelia is a very experienced and well-known instructor, having been teaching sewing to both adults and children for over 10 years. With a degree in interior design, she is passionate about recycling, vintage fashion and is rather addicted to her sewing machines (currently owning 7!).
